چکیده

Abstract Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) is a leading cause of acute upper and lower respiratory infections. Although nearly everyone infected during early childhood, re-infections occur often, highlighting difficulty in building long-term immunity. We employed mouse model HMPV infection to elucidate differences tract immune responses, address why airway does not establish durable protective found burden was higher nasal airways exhibited delayed clearance compared lung. Additionally, there low expression antiviral interferons (IFN) inflammatory cytokines. Key innate cells, including macrophages, monocytes, dendritic were present the nose at baseline but upregulated by infection. previously showed HMPV-specific lung CD8 +T cells (T CD8) are impaired, exhibiting sustained high PD-1 levels reduced functionality. Despite viral load, few T CD8and they did exhibit impairment. To test whether IFN led this phenotype, we administered type I an airway-restricted fashion post-infection. This titers, increased cell number, expression, functionality CD8. subdued response, intranasal vaccination with small-volume dose elicited modest reduction titers on challenge no improvement clinical disease. Our findings reveal quiescent landscape despite that contributed slow modulated, part, expression. The CD8 T Cell Response to Respiratory Virus Infections

Humans are highly susceptible to infection with respiratory viruses including respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), influenza virus, human metapneumovirus, rhinovirus, coronavirus, and parainfluenza virus. While some viruses simply cause symptoms of the common cold, many respiratory viruses induce severe bronchiolitis, pneumonia, and even death following infection. Despite the immense clinical bur...

Respiratory tract infection due to human metapneumovirus among elderly patients.

After the initial isolation of human met-apneumovirus (hMPV) from infants with respiratory tract illnesses (RTIs), a pleth-ora of studies involving the pediatric population have demonstrated that, in this population, hMPV infection accounts for 5%–25% of reported RTIs. Among infants hospitalized for RTI, hMPV is often the second most detected pathogen after human respiratory syncytial virus (hR...

Respiratory Tract Infections Due to Human Metapneumovirus in Immunocompromised Children

BACKGROUND The clinical presentation and management of human metapneumovirus (hMPV) infections in immunocompromised children is not well understood. METHODS We performed a retrospective evaluation of pediatric patients with laboratory-confirmed hMPV infections and underlying hematologic malignancy, solid tumors, solid organ transplant, rheumatologic disease, and/or receipt of chronic immunosu...

Molecular Analysis of Human Metapneumovirus Detected in Patients with Lower Respiratory Tract Infection in Upper Egypt

Introduction. Since 2001, when Human metapneumovirus (HMPV) was isolated in the Netherlands, the virus has been detected in several continents. Although reports have confirmed the prevalence of HMPV worldwide, data from Egypt remain limited. HMPV plays an important role in respiratory tract infections in individuals of all ages particularly in children. This study was aimed at estimating the pr...

CD335 (NKp46)+ T-Cell Recruitment to the Bovine Upper Respiratory Tract during a Primary Bovine Herpesvirus-1 Infection

Bovine natural killer (NK) cells were originally defined by the NK activation receptor CD335 [natural killer cell p46-related protein (NKp46)], but following the discovery of NKp46 expression on human T-cells, the definition of conventional bovine NK cells was modified to CD335+CD3- cells. Recently, a bovine T-cell population co-expressing CD335 was identified and these non-conventional T-cells...
